Sunday 30May sermon notes

Sunday 30 May 2010 17hr sermon notes…

Confession…

Jesus became sin so that I may become righteous(2Co5:21) Because I know my God I will be strong, and do great exploits.(Dan11:32) With God I will run through a troop; and with my God I will leap over walls.(Ps18:29) The righteous are bold as a lion.(Prov28:1) I can preach the gospel to anybody, and I will pray for the sick and they will be healed, I am blessed and I am strong an I will overcome!!!(Mark16:15-20)

We will all be following a bible study during this holidays and I can’t stress enough the importance of including yourself in this…it is NB for spiritual growth during the holidays… the bible study will be on: “The kind of person Jesus can disciple”, during which we will also be memorising 20 verses. You can follow on twitter and facebook!!

But first we are going to get to know each other a little and create some connections so we can be a true family of believers…

The purpose for the next 7 weeks will be three-fold:
Fellowship
Establish inter cultural friendships
Connection with the Holy Spirit

We’ve just come out of a dream series and one thing that stood out is that God wants us to do stuff together…Yes he has an individual dream for everyone but this we all know. no man is an island and there is no such thing as a self made man! God wants us to, and He wants us to know how to do stuff together…because he has one great dream and that is the salvation of all mankind. therefore all our dreams build together on one ultimate and sovereign dream.

John17:Neither pray I for these alone(ref: disciples), but for them also which shall believe on me through their word(ref: You and Me), that they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me.

and thus we must connect our lives together to fulfill that big dream God has for the world…that is the plan for the next 7 weeks we are going to spend together here before we go back on campus.
I trust that this group will be like Yeast that will leaven the dough on campus church… and who knows maybe this will be the beginnings of the english service of HPcampus church…

If you are not going to be here the whole time make sure you follow via the internet the sermon notes will be posted on the His People Kampus kerk page. also keep memorising those scriptures with us I’ll share on twitter…
The dream for this next 7 weeks is that we will grow in fellowship with each other and inter cultural relationships as well as fellowship and connection with the Holy Spirit!

Acts 2:46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Acts 2:47: Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

What do you think SA needs the most? Something like what happened at Orlando stadium in Soweto over the weekend! Unity! To have Unity we need leaders to create it. The church is not supposed to be following along in creating unity we’re supposed to be leading the charge. We better wake up and see what is happening in South Africa. The unsaved is creating Unity in ways that aren’t necessarily godly. We need to model to the world what Godly unity looks like and it’s going to start right here with us. We are creating Unity here today and through this time together I want us to live by a simple principle:

A Look a Touch and a Word!

Wherever you go during this time: Whether it’s at the spar or the filling station or at work. I want you to start thinking this: A look touch and a word…

Here let me demonstrate: Good day Sir, (shake hands – firm but not over doing it) Look the person in the eyes for at least two seconds and then compliment him (You really look well today or thanks for being a great leader or boss or whatever…) or wish him well (hope you have a pleasant day today, let me know if I can assist in any way) or give them a more serious word of encouragement if you are led by the Holy Spirit ( Sir I want you to know that we believe in you and that you are well able to succeed through any challenge you might be going through! or I prayed for you and trust God with you for breakthrough in these matters.)

No matter how self assured or confident or closed up or unapproachable a person may seem, everybody always appreciates kind words!!!

I want to invite you to start walking up to people you don’t know yet and give them a look a touch and a word! and why don’t you while you are at it make new friend and get to know that person a bit!

Make friends this way! If we keep doing this we will have favour with men and God! Prov3:3 explains that if we treat people with mercy in our hearts and with grace on our lips we will have favour with them and God. and this opens up opportunities to share the goodness of God with people. This goodness, encounters with this goodness, is what lead people to repentance form dead works and faith towards God!!

Are you ready?
Lets do it!
